It’s a day many parents feel anxious or nervous about:  their child’s first day of school.  Not only do you have supplies to get such as crayons, markers, paper, pencils and new clothes and shoes, but there also comes the task of picking out the right school, kindergarten or preschool for your little one.  It’s like the stress never ends!  If that isn’t good enough, researching the right school to send your child is a tedious task – oftentimes, parents want to walk through the school for themselves and see how the place looks and feels before simply enroling their child.  This is a good practice to engage in, even though it is time-consuming.  There are several daycare centres and schools in Malaysia and even in Petaling Jaya who are not licensed and/or certified as an educational or childcare facility.  Be weary of these places!

Checklist for Your Child’s First Day of School

  • Immunisations and a Physical Exam;

Make sure your children visited their doctor prior to starting school.  Immunisations are also a plus.  Keep in mind that regardless of the school, children do have a tendency of picking up germs from other young children, so runny noses, coughs and fevers are normal.  Little Human Scholars kindergarten, preschool, playschool and daycare in PJ follows strict sanitization measures such as washing hands before and after meals as well as after using the restroom.  They also have hand sanitizer dispensers all throughout the school.  While we can’t promise that your child will never get sick while building up their immune systems, we do ensure that they will be as healthy as possible!

  • Ensure proper wardrobe is in place;

In playschool as well as kindergarten and preschool, there is a lot of play time.  Ensuring your child has the proper footwear, change of clothes (in case of any accidents) and sweaters (in case they start feeling cold in an air-conditioned room) will support them in being more focused during their kindergarten, playschool or preschool class.

  • Water bottles and lunch boxes/bags (if the school doesn’t provide in-school lunches);

If you are planning on packing snacks or lunches for your child, then purchasing the necessities are important!  Little Human Scholars provides both snacks and lunches for children for a small additional fee, and even incorporates food choices such as vegan, halal and vegetarian in their school menu if needed!

  • Get your children on a proper “school night” routine a couple weeks before their first day of school;

This is very important.  You don’t want your child having a cranky first day because they went to bed at midnight and had to wake up at 7am to get ready for school.  Most toddlers and children under five (5) need ten (10) to twelve (12) hours of sleep each night.  So if they are going to wake up at 7am, you may want to make sure they are showered, fed and in bed most nights at 7 pm!!

In summary, getting your child ready for their first day of school does take a little planning, but it is worth it in the end.  You will also want to take time to research the schools you may send your child to.  For example, make sure they are licensed and certified, they practice strict safety and health measures, and follow the curriculum set in place!

About Little Human Scholars School and Daycare Centre in PJ

Little Human Scholars is an all-in-one childcare solution.  It is a preschool, playschool, kindergarten, nursery and full day daycare centre (with extended hours) located in the heart of PJ.

In fact, the location is one of the things which makes Little Human Scholars so sought after – it is conveniently nestled near Jalan Gasing, University hospital, PJ Old town, PJ New town, Jaya One, Jaya33, and the PJ IT Mall.

The best part is LHS has premiere services many other schools in PJ don’t offer such as full day daycare with extended hours, CCTV access for parents, and a nifty little phone app called Toddlytic which provides parents with automatic updates on their child’s development, behaviour and health checks.

With full-time guards always present at each of their locations, access to CCTV (which is in every room except the office, bathroom and kitchen areas), and very strict pick-up and drop-off rules, Little Human Scholars treats every child who walks into it’s hallways as one of their own children!

This place has it all:  location, safety, health, IGSCE curriculum and play-based learning.  What more could you ask for?  Did I mention they also have transportation services and offer meal plans for students?  It doesn’t get any better than that.

If you are interested in a tour of one of our centres (that’s right, there’s more than one), all you need to do is fill out the form here or call +6017-7303-025 and a LHS administrative staff will get back with you shortly!

Cheers,
