Being a new parent can be overwhelming, especially when you go home with your bundle of joy and baby won’t stop crying through the night!  We understand the frustration many parents face because we at Little Human Scholars are parents ourselves!!  In order to support new parents in their journey, we’ve compiled a list of reasons why your baby won’t stop crying through the night and some remedies for them!

How to Tell Why Your Baby Won’t Stop Crying at Night

  1. Being Hungry

Babies have tiny stomachs and need to feed quite frequently during the first few months – every two to three hours to be exact. Watch for signs of hunger such as baby putting its hands into their mouth, fussing, and smacking their lips. By the time baby is around 3 to 6 months old, they should be able to sleep longer through the night without waking up frequently.

  1. Discomfort or Pain

Babies are prone to gas and may need to be burped to give them relief. As a rule of thumb, after feeding my baby I always burped her.  She had a tendency of swallowing air while feeding, and this caused discomfort.  Burping them helps the trapped air come out!

  1. Diaper Change

Some babies can tolerate a wet or dirty diaper for a short time while others need to be changed immediately. Putting on a fresh diaper often helps baby go back to sleep again.

  1. Needs Assurance

Sometimes baby just wants to be held by mommy or daddy…even in the middle of the night!  Don’t worry though – when they are around 3 to 6 months old, they will start sleeping longer through the night and you can finally get some proper rest!

  1. Feeling Cold or Hot

Like adults, babies don’t like being too hot or too cold.  If cold, you can swaddle them in a light blanket.  If too hot (which can be common in Petaling Jaya), remove some layers of clothing or turn on the air con.

  1. Teething Troubles

While many babies don’t start teething until several months old, some babies start as early as 3 or four months.  If your baby is drooling excessively, chews on everything, and shoves their hands in their mouths, you may have a teething baby.  Massage the gums gently or get baby teethers – this helps reduce irritation…especially when they can be refrigerated!

  1. Excess Stimulation

Taking your baby to a social event or out on a shopping trip can sometimes prove to be too much excitement – especially with so many bustling malls and shopping centres in PJ. The sensory overload can be too much for them.  Take baby home where it is a familiar setting and then ease them into their bedtime routine.

About Little Human Scholars School and Full Day Daycare Centre in PJ

Little Human Scholars is an all-in-one childcare solution.  It is a preschool, playschool, kindergarten, nursery and full day daycare centre (with extended hours) located in the heart of PJ.

In fact, the location is one of the things which makes Little Human Scholars so sought after – it is conveniently nestled near Jalan Gasing, University hospital, PJ Old town, PJ New town, Jaya One, Jaya33, and the PJ IT Mall.

The best part is LHS has premiere services many other schools in PJ don’t offer such as full-day daycare with extended hours, CCTV access for parents, and a nifty little phone app called Toddlytic which provides parents with automatic updates on their child’s development, behaviour and health checks.

With full-time guards always present at each of their locations, access to CCTV (which is in every room except the office, bathroom and kitchen areas), and very strict pick-up and drop-off rules, Little Human Scholars treats every child who walks into its hallways as one of their own children!

This place has it all:  location, safety, health, IGSCE curriculum and play-based learning.  What more could you ask for?  Did I mention they also have transportation services and offer meal plans for students?  It doesn’t get any better than that.

If you are interested in a tour of one of our centres (that’s right, there’s more than one), all you need to do is fill out the form here or call +6017-7303-025 and an LHS administrative staff will get back with you shortly!

Cheers,
